"Two British Tommies on active service in France were given 24 hours leave. What about this place Paris of which they'd heard so much of at home? What about the capital city of their partners in the Entente Cordiale? The British Tommies decided to give it a 24 hours trial. Here is the result."

...says the introduction to this very interesting article published in the magazine Picture Post on February 3, 1940. In English.

This visit of the two Tommies was possible because it took place before the WWII invasion of France and Paris (from 22 June 1940). This magazine offers a fantastic view of how Paris life was only a few months before the invasion.

It also contains a very interesting article about Helsinki, another one about the youngest stage director, balloons against the U-Boats, episode 21 of the Diary of the war (19th week), the history of weapon (artillery) and much more. The magazine is also full of vintage ads for beauty products, fashion, medicines...

It is in good condition for its age, but please note that the staples holding the pages are rusted, some pages show yellow traces of age, and the centre double page has become loose from the staples.
