Very rare two French vintage or antique Cousin Frères dark red cotton reels. For sewing machines.

Please note that "vintage" is commonly used for items 25 years or older, and "antique" is commonly used for items 100 years or older.

Exact date of manufacture unknown but estimated 1920s to 1930s.
There is a date of the paper wrapping: 1848. This is the date the company was created in France, probably not the manufacturing date of those two reels.

As I have just mentioned, Cousin Frères was created in 1848. The compagny changed its name in 1995 to become three sister companies: Cousin-Trestec, Cousin Composites and Cousin Biotech. The company apparently still exists nowadays, and is still situated in Wervicq, in the North of France.

The two cotton reels are unused and still wrapped in their original plastic packaging, with the two original labels stuck over it.

These cotton reels are estimated 1920s to 1930s because of the design on the front label, showing the face of a woman, which looks Art Deco (please also notice the hairstyle). They might be a bit older.

500 yards = 457 metres of dark red cotton.
6 threads.
Hard cardboard roll in the middle of the reel.

Weight of these two reels together (without protection and packaging): 54 g

The cotton threads are obviously in excellent condition as they are unused and still wrapped. The paper labels look a bit old.
